EBT sand for electric arc furnace (EAF)
Dunite is the ideal option for filling EBT tap-holes in electric arc furnaces (EAF), thanks to its sintering capacity from 800 °C upwards. This property allows for the development of an optimal resistance gradient throughout the tap-hole, resulting in very high opening ratios and a significant improvement in process efficiency.
At Pasek, we adapt the particle size distribution to the technical requirements of each plant, thanks to the continuous work of our R&D&I department. This enables us to deliver customised solutions that ensure maximum operational performance.
Main products:
- PasekTAP 1: characterised by its balanced chemical composition (MgO ~36.5%, SiO₂ ~40.5%) and high hardness (6.5/7 on the Mohs scale), ensuring excellent resistance in industrial use. Its low moisture (<1%), specific gravity of 2.8 g/cm³, and porosity of less than 5% make it suitable for applications where stability and material consistency are priorities.
- PasekTAP 3: an alternative magnesium silicate with properties very similar to PasekTAP 1, but with a slightly lower bulk density (1.49 T/m³ versus 1.53 T/m³). It retains the same main chemical composition and physical properties, such as hardness and low moisture, but its structure makes it ideal for applications where a lighter material is required, facilitating handling and use.
- PasekTAP 3 DRY: the driest option in the range, with ultra-low moisture (<0.2%), making it especially suitable for processes where the presence of moisture must be minimised. It maintains the chemical composition and physical properties of PasekTAP 3, including the bulk density of 1.49 T/m³ and high hardness. It is ideal for environments that are highly sensitive to moisture or require a product that guarantees maximum stability against water absorption during storage and use.

Main applications of dunite in EBT tap-holes
Controlled sintering: its ability to sinter from 800 °C enhances tap-hole stability and structural resistance.
Reliable and efficient opening: the product composition ensures precise opening, optimising furnace tapping and reducing incidents.
Customisation for each plant: we adapt the particle size distribution to the technical parameters of each facility, ensuring optimal performance in every operation.
Thanks to these characteristics, dunite positions itself as a key solution for more efficient and safer steelmaking processes.
